Hair Length Chart and Variables of Hair textures
Every hair extension that is collected, cleaned, and then packaged and sent out to you from Malaysia Hair Imports is made out of high-quality virgin human hair. We are involved in every step of the way to make sure that you get the best hair extensions on the market.
UNDERSTANDING HAIR LENGTH AND TYPE OF HAIR EXTENSIONS OR WIGS YOU BUY
There’s a simple logic behind this—think of a long piece of hair. If you hold that Hair straight, you’ll easily see its length in its entirety. However, if you roll, ball, or fold that same Hair, it’ll appear shorter, even though the actual length of the Hair hasn’t changed.

However, in order to ensure that you are able to get the perfect style you need to step in and consider the length of the hair extensions you will need. We gladly do custom orders for custom lengths, but first, you need to have a basic idea of what you will need or what your stylist has requested you to purchase.
If you buy or Malaysian straight hair…your hair will appear its actual length. This is because there are no kinks or bends in our Malaysian Hair, resulting in strands that hang long. For example, if you have 12 inches of length, your hair will likely fall just past your shoulders.
If you Buy our Cambodian Body wavy hair…the hair may appear a tad shorter than it actually is. This is because you have a bit of a bend to your hair texture. So, if you have 12 inches of length, you’ll generally have a shoulder-length mane.
If you buy our Burmese curly hair…your hair will appear 4 inches or 6in shorter than it actually is since you have tighter kinks and coils throughout your mane. This means if you have 12 inches of length, your hair will fall about an inch or two above your shoulders.
HOW TO USE MALAYSIA HAIR LENGTH CHART
Our hair length chart displays what we explained above in an easy to understand visual. You can utilize a hair length chart to get an idea of how a certain hair length will look with your hair texture. This way, when you get a haircut and say you want a certain number of inches cut, you’ll have a better idea of what that will actually look like.
In the middle of these two extremes are wavy hair extensions. Therefore, it is very important to consider the style of hair that you want before you start to order your extensions. A few tips will help make it easier to order the appropriate hair extensions for your intended look.
Straight hair will usually end up longer than our curlier extensions because when we measure the straight hair it lays completely flat. Therefore, there can be a slight variation in the lengths of curly and straight hair. It is thus important to know the texture of hair extensions that you want before you place the order.
If you plan to buy hair extensions meant for curly hair then it is a good idea to choose one size larger than what you have in mind since it will bounce up once you add the texture to it.
The Short Lengths:
Ear Length is the shortest level of hair and, as the name implies, it reaches the ears. This could be the earlobe or even the top of the ear. If you are asking for a haircut this short, your stylist will get a clear idea of how daring you want to be.
Chin length is one of the classics and many of the most stylish looks have it. Just think of all of the cute bobs or retro looks with a 1930’s flavor. Chin length also looks great with textured and layered short haircuts.
The Medium Lengths:
Between short and long the medium lengths are a great way to get volume in your hair and also just enough to create stylish updos.
Neck length is most flattering for most face shapes. The cutting line is between chin and shoulder length. It is often used for wispy shag looks that have layers, longer bobs and it is also fun for curly hair.
Shoulder length is a nice compromise for those who want the feel of longer hair, without all the weight. This length can be tied to ponytails, chignons, and all kinds of pretty updos and also looks super stylish when just worn straight down.
Anything below shoulder length is considered to belong to hair. And how many steps of it there are! Keep reading to find your ideal cutting line.
Collarbone length is just below the shoulder line and gives the hair an extra couple of inches of movement. At this length, you can consider braiding the hair and it is also great for long layers with finely textured tips.
Armpit length is when things get serious in terms of a true mane. Add some layers and perhaps waves for more volume and drama and you’ll have a very sexy and alluring look.
You also should keep in mind that curly hair extensions tend to give a heavier and thicker appearance compared to straight hair once they are put into place. Straight virgin hair extensions, on the other hand, tend to stay true to their measured length so simply order the exact length that you want.
Wavy hair tends to be about an inch and a half shorter once it bounces up and curly hair tends to be three inches shorter than straight hair. If you are looking to achieve a curly hair look then we advise you to purchase two inches of additional length when getting hair extensions.
